Our company has an exciting opportunity for a Plant Safety & Environmental Coordinator at our Troy, Ohio, location. The purpose of this role is to assist the EH&S Specialist and Safety Manager in implementing and maintaining a comprehensive safety and environmental program to ensure compliance with State and Federal safety and environmental regulations at Troy and Russia facilities. The programs will be but not limited to Control of Hazardous Energy, EH&S Incident Procedure, Personal Protective Equipment, Machine Guarding, Audits, and General Plant Safety and Health issues. Provide support to employees in these programs as requested and required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform weekly emergency shower and eye wash inspections, monthly fire extinguisher inspections, sharps container checks, annual ladder inspections and other company required inspections.
  • Assist in performing and maintaining up-to-date confined space, machine guarding, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain fall protection equipment list and inspections.
  • Maintain sling inventory list and inspections.
  • Prepare slides and participate in the weekly safety meeting.
  • Safety walk participation, data entry, and action item management.
  • Assist in creating schedules for audiometric testing, respirator fit testing, and other safety-related tests and trainings.
  • Assist in PPE trials and PPE assessments.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and distributing safety supplies to the departments.
  • Assist in auditing and maintaining labels and general HazCom requirements in the plant.
  • Participate in the STOP data pro program and mentor new observers.
  • Assist in incident and accident investigation and creating countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Upload supporting documents into the SMS system attached to safety incidents.
  • Audit contractor work permits and assist in contractor training.
  • Create and revise machine specific lockout/tagout procedures as needed. Post at the equipment and participate in LOTO periodic inspections.
  • Maintain the safety televisions with safety related information and training material.
  • Serve as a first responder, and a forklift, aerial lift, and crane trainer.
  • Backup the Environmental and Safety Technician.
  • Other safety and health related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two-year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of experience in safety or environmental compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Forklift training experience is a plus.
  • First responder training is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work with all departments in an organization.
