About The Position

Assess, develop, implement, configure, and program SCADA and plant control systems for water and wastewater facilities Function as lead PLC and HMI programming engineer Develop control logic based on narrative control descriptions Testing, startup, and commissioning of control systems following well-defined procedures Support continuous improvement for quality control and programming execution Optimize process control loops Coordinate with utility staff, contractors and other engineering firms for the completion of SCADA integration for capital improvement water utility projects On-going client support, maintenance, and troubleshooting The Instrumentation & Control department is a global team specializing in instrumentation, control systems, wireless communications, networks, and cybersecurity for all BV Market Sectors and Solutions. Our team provides a full range of services including consulting, master planning, assessments, conceptual design, detailed design, EPC, design-build, construction support, field services, testing, commissioning, resident engineering, staff augmentation, training, on-call services, and system implementation, configuration, and programing. Our Water Automation Team provides PLC/HMI programming support for our instrumentation & control project activites for all Black & Veatch’s Water/Wastewater projects throughout North America. Black & Veatch is currently building our Florida regional team to continue serving our East Region clients and expanding our business.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or sciences preferred or any other degree, specialized training, or experience, that makes the individual uniquely qualified to perform the job responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in PLC/HMI programming and commissioning
  • HMI/SCADA experience with VTScada, AVEVA System Platform, GE Proficy iFix, Ignition, or similar software
  • PLC experience with Schneider Electric, Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar controller platforms
  • AVEVA (Wonderware) System Platform Developer Certification
  • Consulting experience, particularly in the Water/Wastewater industry
