Preschool Teacher Assistant- Toddlers [2 days/week]

About the position

At St. Thomas More Preschool, our goal is to offer our students a positive and enjoyable experience that will allow them to grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Our school gives special attention to the developmental stages, skills, and needs of each child while encouraging and nurturing his or her God-given abilities. The program has been carefully developed for the enrichment of the whole child and is fully licensed by the State of Texas. The position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.

Responsibilities

• Helps implement a meaningful learning experience; the Assistant role is designed to interact with the children in classroom activities and to support the classroom teacher.
• Follow lesson plans provided by the teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including the playground and cafeteria.
• Assist the teacher in both setting up the classroom in the morning as well as in the afternoons.
• Clean tables after snacks and lunch, as well as sweep the floors.
• Participate in recommended training programs, courses, and other aspects of professional growth (24 hours of continuing education).
• Assist in the daily cleaning of the classroom.

Requirements

• Passion to influence the lives of pre-kindergarten children.
• Patience in lovingly meeting young learners' spiritual, academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs.
• Patience in accepting guidance and assignments from the classroom teacher.
• High school diploma.
• Working with young children is preferred.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
