About the position

Energy Management Systems Transmission Product Manager is primarily responsible for leading the design, deployment, and management of software and hardware products specifically designed for managing power transmission grids within an Energy Management System (EMS), focusing on optimizing power flow and grid stability across transmission lines. Defining the vision and roadmap for transmission-focused EMS products, including impact any regulatory mandates such as FERC 881 or FERC 2222. National Grid is undertaking upgrade of the existing energy management system. This role is a critical role driving the upgrade and implementing new platform in collaboration with engineers and control center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to define and align business and product vision and strategy.
  • Define and communicate an effective vision for digitalized work execution, its value and benefit, throughout the organization and with our stakeholders to create a collaborative and informed end user experience.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of product owners with indirect responsibility for additional cross-functional team members.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in planning, prioritization, and product delivery.
  • Define and measure business impact, and monitor performance of initiatives and communicate performance metrics to key stakeholders.
  • Leverage data to understand risks, impacts, scope and priorities of our business objectives, and enable the team to drive results.

Requirements

  • A degree directly related to or transferable to digital delivery and / or the energy system more broadly.
  • Comfortable in challenging the ‘status quo’ and driving change at an enterprise level.
  • Demonstrable capability to manage a critical program / portfolio of digital products to transform business operations.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to successfully navigate a complex organization and generate and maintain buy-in for ideas and plans.
  • Strong technical background, with demonstrated ability to partner effectively with engineering, designers, UX, and data science.
  • Having previous product development and implementation experience within a US energy utility would be hugely valuable.
