About the position

Echodyne offers the world's first compact solid-state true beam-steering radar for a wide range of industries and applications. Our high-performance radars work in all weather and are designed for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft & drones, and security of borders, critical infrastructure, and smart cities. The company combines the patented technology of metamaterials with powerful software to create a radar sensor with unprecedented performance at commercial price points. Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air Mobility (UTM). Echodyne is seeking a Principal Software Engineer (C++/Rust with a cybersecurity focus) to design and produce radar equipment subsystems composed of Echodyne's industry-leading radars. In this role, you will engage with an experienced, cross-disciplinary team to create radar systems solutions through high-performance, secure software solutions. You will work closely with colleagues to architect and build security-critical software solutions, mentor junior engineers, and play a key role in shaping the secure development practices of the team. This role demands technical leadership, deep systems knowledge, and a strong security mindset. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within a collaborative and fast-paced environment. As the primary cybersecurity engineer of the software team, you will lead development projects and processes in a secure software development lifecycle (SSLDC).

  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, secure software design patterns, and exploit mitigation techniques.
  • Proven experience building and deploying high-performance, low-level systems or security-critical applications.
  • Experience with secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC).
  • Proficiency in systems-level programming, memory management, and concurrency.
  • Strong debugging and performance optimization skills.
  • Familiarity with static and dynamic analysis, fuzzing, sandboxing, or reverse engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Leadership experience in architecting secure systems or platforms.
  • Prior work in zero-trust architecture, endpoint protection, cryptographic protocol implementation, or supply chain security.
  • Experience integrating security practices into CI/CD workflows (DevSecOps).
  • Advanced knowledge of threat modeling, code auditing, and vulnerability research.
  • Experience developing secure solutions for embedded electronic RF systems (Radar, Electronic Warfare, Cellular, or other Wireless Technology).
