Title: Product Engineer - 13021
Your Responsibilities
John Deere Construction & Forestry is seeking a Product Engineer to perform basic product design and analysis work for a defined portion of a project. You will work within a cross-functional team and manage small projects by understanding the scope of the project, developing project schedules, developing design solutions, conducting design reviews and developing all of the product data necessary to implement the project into production. In addition, you will:
* Evaluate multiple design solutions that may be appropriate to improve quality, production line efficiency, customer/dealer experience, cost, and performance of current products. This will require engaging multiple functional areas within the company and outside suppliers.
* Analyze assignments and determine engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for routine problems or projects.
* Compile and furnish necessary information to document the design solution required for the building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
* Develop test plans in cooperation with the Product Verification & Validation group.
* Learn and apply company engineering policies and practices.
The hiring manager expects that the successful candidate should anticipate to perform in this role for a minimum of 24 months.

What Skills You Need
* An aptitude for understanding heavy mechanical structures, mechanisms and basic systems
* Ability to travel - typically 3-4 trips per year to suppliers and/or customers
What Makes You Stand Out
* Experience with solid modeling software and product data management software
* Knowledge of Forestry operations
* Experience in the design, operation and/or maintenance of heavy equipment
* Experience in the design of structures and/or hydraulics
Education (or equivalent experience)
Ideally, you will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
