About the position
Vast.ai democratizes and decentralizes AI by running the world’s largest peer-to-peer GPU marketplace. Our platform already powers thousands of training runs and production workloads at a fraction of hyperscale prices. Now we’re expanding that marketplace to autonomous coding agents and agent-powered services—and we need a product leader who can see around corners. This role offers greenfield ownership where you’ll define v0.1 of a developer-facing agent platform—everything from core workflows to monetization levers. You will have a direct line to the founder, working side-by-side with research engineering on strategy and execution. Vast’s GPU liquidity, thriving developer base, and profitable core business provide unique strategic advantages. We value intensity, autonomy, and principled contrarianism over credentialism.
Responsibilities
- Map the landscape of coding-first AI agents, competitor SDKs, and emerging open-source tooling; distill a differentiated wedge that plays to Vast’s strengths.
- Translate fuzzy research breakthroughs into an initial set of lovable developer workflows (agent creation, deployment, revenue sharing, usage metering).
- Define success metrics that capture marketplace liquidity, model performance, and end-user ROI—and build the telemetry to measure them.
- Partner with BD to recruit lighthouse launch partners and supply-side agent authors.
- Evangelize inside and out: write public-facing updates, record demo videos, and present at developer events.
Requirements
- 5–10 years in product leadership with at least one zero-to-one software platform or marketplace shipped.
- Deep technical fluency to debate model architectures with research scientists and reason about GPU cost curves.
- Ability to synthesize user pain, market signals, and raw research into a crisp narrative and roadmap.
- Bias for action & intellectual honesty; ability to test hypotheses with scrappy prototypes and rigorously kill the ones that don’t pan out.
- Credibility with the frontier-AI crowd, with past tours at OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Windsurf, Scale, Replit, or comparable.
Nice-to-haves
- Shipped developer-facing tooling (APIs, SDKs, CLIs) or run a two-sided marketplace.
- Hands-on experience with LLM fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, or agentic frameworks (e.g., AutoGen, CrewAI, LangGraph).
- Prior founder experience, demonstrating the ability to grind, negotiate ambiguity, and own outcomes.
