Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for providing the analysis, specifications and translation of business requirements using the Agile system development approach. The position will have a primary focus on being an Agile Product Owner for products, lender partners, school processing and pricing (marketing offers). As a product owner, this position will become a subject matter expert for all aspects of the student loan originations process and products. They will work across business lines to identify system impacts and that business requirements are properly documented. The position must also be able to provide status of projects and escalate high risk issues to senior management. This position is also responsible for supporting the training needs of end-users on new/changed systems and/or processes derived from project outcomes .

Key Responsibilities:

Agile Business Analysis, Prioritization and Scheduling -- 60%

- Works closely with IT to document requirements for new products and enhancements
- Serves as Product Owner for Agile development tracks
- Serve as Subject Matter expert for student products, system configuration, and school processing
- Facilitates discussions with business partners and IT on prioritization to expand on business requirements
- Responsible for prioritization of requirements to fit into IT Agile release schedules
- Works closely with IT to ensure all business requirements are aligned in Sprint releases
- Contributes to daily Agile calls
- Responsible for writing Agile stories
- Determines all system impacts
- Support infrastructure changes and act as act as liaison between business areas and IT partners when needed
- Defines the features of the product and educates IT on the business processes

Project Management -- 30%

- Responsible for managing cross functional teams that provides support for system enhancement projects across all business areas
- Manage work streams to accomplish project work
- Work with IT partners to ensure team is engaged in all systems projected impacting business areas supported
- Ensure engagement of business stakeholders, operational areas and compliance partners for team to elicit, define and accurately translate business requests into system requirements
- Provides status to Senior Management on a routine basis
- Escalates risks and issues to senior management that have direct impacts to project progress

Leadership/Personnel/Financial Management -- 10%

- Proactively works with the business to identify opportunities for enhancements that will improve operations efficiency and customer experience
- Manage priority of assignments to meet all deadlines
- Develop, implement and manage cross training initiatives for staff internally as well as cross departmentally to enhance subject matter expertise within team

Requirements

Education:

- Bachelor's Degree or other related field and/or equivalent work experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Working knowledge of Agile and Waterfall modes of delivery
- Knowledge of basic Project Management principles
- Ability to assist in writing technical requirements and user stories
- Ability to initiate, plan, make decisions and meet stringent deadlines
- Comprehensive skills in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and SharePoint
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure
- Demonstrated initiative
- Ability to think statically and implement changes effectively
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong problem solving and analytics skills

Experience:

- 2-5 Years in depth operational experience to include supporting areas such as loan product life cycle and business operations
- Experience in working with Agile implementations, preferred
- 2+ years' experience working with IT systems in support of business operations and customers
- 2+ years of experience with student loan products or working in the financial services industry
- Expert Microsoft Office proficiency (3+ years)
