About the position

The Group Manager is responsible for achieving the financial and business objectives of a market, service, or group of contracts. This role involves performing billable consulting work, overseeing business administration, business development, client relations, and staff management and development. The Group Manager is accountable for the profitability of all projects within the group and has full managerial responsibility for the direction, control, and utilization of staff, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and ensuring the quality of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Cotter fees and profitability of projects.
  • Contact clients about outstanding A/R as needed.
  • Oversee review and approval of invoicing.
  • Participate in contract negotiation.
  • Identify new business opportunities and actively prospect to develop new accounts.
  • Lead proposal preparation, submittal, presentation, and negotiation.
  • Obtain new business to achieve sales and revenue objectives.
  • Attend industry events to network with clients and prospective clients.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with existing clients and collect feedback on project/program team.
  • Responsible for the performance of all team members and guide staff in learning and professional development.
  • Conduct evaluations and recommend promotions, salary increases, and bonuses.
  • Anticipate departmental staffing needs and participate in recruiting and selection efforts.
  • Plan, organize, and manage resources to deliver projects in accordance with commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field.
  • 15 years’ experience including 5 years managing others.
  • Proven success in obtaining new business.
  • PE license or CCM certification may be required.
  • Ability to use a computer, the Internet, and scheduling, word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
