The role also involves confirming DME proof of delivery and ABN documents, scheduling progress notes, and ensuring patient confidentiality. The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with patients and schedule appointments.
  • Confirm future appointments and handle phone confirmations for next day evaluations.
  • Explain visit costs to patients and collect payments.
  • Manage visit totals and batch collections at the end of the day.
  • Communicate with rehabilitation staff to clarify referral requests and scheduling needs.
  • Collect and verify patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Pull in-take packets for the following day and scan documents into EMR.
  • Assist Rehabilitation Front Office Supervisor in special projects.
  • Answer incoming Rehabilitation Department phone calls and check faxes.
  • Maintain goals for quality patient care, patient satisfaction, and treatment compliance.
  • Manage patient cancellations per department protocol and schedule from wait list.
  • Assist in creating new patient charts.
  • Confirm DME proof of delivery and ABN documents.
  • Schedule progress notes due.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • One year of experience in out-patient rehabilitation preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and EMR software.
  • Knowledge of phone systems.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation terminology and insurance/payor rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of referral processes and patient eligibility.
  • Skill in effectively communicating with patients and staff.
  • Skill in using a computer system/EMR.
  • Skill in accurate documentation of work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Ability to be a resource to patients and staff.
