About the position
A registered professional critical care nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient. Responsible for safely performing all forms of treatments and therapies that are done in the dialysis unit.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in the dialysis unit.
- Perform treatments and therapies safely in the dialysis unit.
- Familiarize with treatment modalities of hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, apheresis, and continuous renal replacement therapy.
- Assess for complications and outcomes of each dialysis modality.
- Start, check, test, and troubleshoot fixed and portable R.O. water treatment systems.
- Maintain ACLS and BLS certification.
- Be available for on-call duties at least 2 times a week.
- Work overtime as needed to ensure appropriate staffing and patient treatment.
- Act as a resource for other units caring for patients with renal failure.
- Travel to other units to access different types of dialysis catheters.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
- Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills.
- Knowledge of organizational functions, policies, and regulations.
- Knowledge of current trends and new developments in nursing.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of nursing applicable to areas requiring special education.
- BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward.
Nice-to-haves
- ICU or previous Dialysis experience.
