About the position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. This posting will be used to fill multiple positions for Temporary Part-Time PRN (as needed) roles. The In-House Agency RN Program offers PRN employment for 13-week intervals. Participants are required to work 36 hours/week for 13 weeks and will be paid a competitive hourly rate plus weekend differentials.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care as an RN.
  • Coordinate care for patients and triage patients.
  • Work collaboratively with clinic providers, fellows, and staff.
  • Effectively work with patient referral sources and facilitate appointments.
  • Coordinate transitions of care and provide patient education on complex conditions.
  • Develop and implement individual health plans with patients, their families, and providers.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing.
  • Valid RN License issued by the State of Arkansas.
  • Minimum of 12 months of experience as an RN in an acute care hospital.
  • Experience in the last 12 months must include at least 6 months in a direct patient care role in an acute care hospital.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong work ethics and accountability.
  • Ability to pass a pre-screening test with a minimum score of 80% for specialty areas.
  • Chemotherapy certification may be required to work Oncology units.
  • Must work one major holiday and one additional holiday if applicable, in addition to every other weekend throughout the duration of the 13-week RN Internal Contract agreement period.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 or more years of RN experience.
