Requirements

  • Operate a computer fluently (outlook, excel, word, etc.)
  • Use of all measuring devices (tapes, micrometer, inside outside calipers, etc.)
  • Must be able to multi task and follow through with task and direction given as well as give direction to direct reports
  • Must be able to work well with others and create a team atmosphere starting with safety
  • Must be able to follow instructions given by supervisor or manager in timely and safe manner
  • Must be respectful to others
  • Must be respectful to others, responsible and dependable
  • Minimum three years rolling mill experience in a hands on environment
  • Ability to recall specifics, methods, and processes
  • Comprehend and apply analyzed procedures
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all CMC Steel FL Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure that the crew is producing the best quality bar as possible at CMC Steel FL
  • Maintain a continuous focus on cost and ways to decrease waste and cost
  • Strategic thinking – being able to look ahead at the needs of the shop
  • Guide the immediate need for production but ultimately you need to be planning several hours or heats ahead
  • Be the safety net for the crew to help avoid anything falling through the cracks
  • Provide tools and training to develop new personnel and prepare existing employees for advancement
  • Have willingness and commitment to succeed when implementing new processes or materials
  • Promote crew chemistry, recognize and celebrate good performance, hold team members accountable for their roles and responsibilities
  • Work diligently to develop a department that buys in to the goals of the area and understand that the accomplishment of these goals is critical to entire mills long term success
  • Promote interdepartmental cooperation; maintain close relationships with customers in other departments both upstream and downstream from your area
  • Be deliberate and proactive with communication
  • Take ownership with communication to make sure you understand the reasoning and facts behind decisions and changes made and can deliver confidently with others
  • Work with other shift supervisors to ensure positions are covered for vacations, vacancies, absences, etc
