About the position

This is a regular, full-time, hourly, non-exempt and benefit-eligible staff position at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma. The position typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. It is an entry-level professional role that performs a variety of duties following established policies and procedures, with actions that may have a measurable impact on operations. The role involves resolving problems by selecting from approved alternatives based on past practices, established procedures, or direction. The position primarily executes routine procedures with direction from senior staff and generally reports to a manager or higher, without supervising others. The role includes working with students.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a range of communications and/or marketing related work which may include print, social media, web content, or multi-media.
  • Creates and disseminates content for internal/external audiences through a variety of media.
  • Coordinates and implements communication activities.
  • Assists and implements all marketing strategies by preparing proposal, presentation, and communication materials.
  • Coordinates the distribution of internal and external marketing literature.
  • Assists in writing and editing sales and marketing materials, which include articles, presentations, white papers, and collateral.
  • Assists in promotional strategies and product development.
  • Distributes communications, such as press releases, according to the communications calendar.
  • Updates and manages company websites and social media accounts.
  • Collaborates to develop organizational branding and ensures all communications are consistent with company branding, marketing and communication objectives.
  • Develops marketing collateral including brochures, presentations, social media posts, and website content.
  • Manages the content calendar and ensures timely publication across various channels.
  • Oversees content creation projects or works with designers and writers.
  • Manages the School's social media accounts and creates engaging content.
  • Tracks and analyzes social media engagement metrics.
  • Responds to comments and messages from followers.
  • Develops and maintains an outreach calendar for each academic year.
  • Assists with planning and coordination of outreach activities for the school.
  • Works with student club leadership on their participation in outreach activities.
  • Assists with developing and promoting a consistent brand message that integrates with broader university branding.
  • Ensures all marketing materials comply with brand guidelines.
  • Assists with planning, promoting, and marketing School events.
  • Drafts press releases and other communication materials.
  • Monitors industry trends and prepares reports for marketing leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in job related field plus 6+ years of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct basic market research.
  • Proficiency in marketing automation tools, email marketing platforms, and content management systems (CMS).
  • Understanding of social media platforms and content creation strategies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with design software like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to think creatively to develop innovative marketing and communication strategies.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.

Benefits

  • Hourly range of $21.15-$21.63 per hour, equivalent to $44,000-$45,000 per year.
