About the position

The Seasonal Packaging Operator/Forklift Operator is responsible for performing both bagging and baler operations in a production environment. This role requires adherence to safety guidelines while operating machinery and assisting in various production areas as needed. The operator will be involved in moving and wrapping completed products, maintaining equipment, and ensuring proper documentation for loaded trucks. The position demands physical stamina, as it involves lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bagging and baler operations as determined by the Shift Leads.
  • Operate machinery in a productive manner using established safety guidelines.
  • Assist other production areas as needed.
  • Move and wrap completed products.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs and stand for a minimum of 7 hours per day.
  • Communicate moisture or material problems to the Shift Lead.
  • Operate a forklift in warehouse and production areas.
  • Ensure propane tanks are filled and forklift equipment is maintained.
  • Stack raw materials in an orderly fashion.
  • Sweep the warehouse daily and empty trash bins when full.
  • Ensure proper paperwork is completed for loaded trucks.
  • Count and recount loaded trucks with another associate.
  • Attach packaging slips to all loads and enclose them.
  • Attach load seals to trucks before departure.
  • Band and stack plywood during teardown of pods.
  • Work on re-stacks and bags daily and record them.
  • Wear seat belts at all times and operate the lift safely.
  • Stack junk pallets properly until disposal.
  • Clean up the warehouse at the end of the shift.
  • Assist Shift Leads with starting and stopping pellet mills.
  • Maintain a clean workstation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Prior forklift experience required.
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Good eye, hand, and foot coordination.
  • Ability to pass company forklift training.
