This role will assist in the design, construction, and maintenance of AES Clean Energy's technology systems, including Energy Management, SCADA, Telecommunications, and other critical systems for monitoring and controlling power generation operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop additional skills in a range of technologies and gain hands-on experience with both new and legacy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in configuring, installing, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining servers, storage arrays, network devices, and software to ensure reliable operation of the power grid.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide support for resetting remote services, user passwords, troubleshooting ISP outages, and other system-related issues.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams to apply technology solutions that enhance business practices, protect assets, and improve customer service.
  • Engage with co-workers, vendors, and representatives from other organizations to gather and disseminate information, resolve conflicts, set priorities, and complete projects within time and budget constraints.
  • Create diagrams and documentation for IT configurations, evaluate new products and services from vendors, and ensure alignment with regulatory and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations to ensure compliance, actively supporting AES Cybersecurity and NERC CIP compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience with virtual environments, network fundamentals, hardware, and software.
  • Understanding of VMWare, Hyper-V, Windows Server, and networking design including VLANs and subnetting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently troubleshoot and address issues.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as required.
  • Availability to participate in on-call support one week per month for 24/7 operations.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in operational technology.
  • Ability to qualify for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including steel-toe boots, hard hats, and other required safety gear.
