The Senior Backend Engineer, Alerting role is a remote opportunity focused on enhancing the Grafana open-source project, particularly in managing alerts. The team is responsible for building distributed systems to scale alert ingestion and delivery, unifying alert setups, and ensuring high performance in alert evaluations. The role involves close collaboration with customers and other teams to deliver reliable and efficient alerting solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Influence the roadmap and personal career objectives
  • Deliver new features and iterate based on results
  • Drive projects from ideation to operations
  • Contribute to open-source culture and other projects
  • Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems
  • Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of services
  • Mentor and support team members, participate in design discussions
  • Learn new skills and understand the cloud product and codebase

Requirements

  • Motivated self-starter with a bias towards action
  • Customer-focused with a passion for intuitive product design
  • Ability to break down complex challenges into modular solutions
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in a remote setup
  • Solid experience with at least one programming language (Go preferred, but Python, Java, C++, Rust, or similar are acceptable)
  • Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering to shipping
  • Experience with cloud software development or systems engineering
  • Ability to write clean, robust, and maintainable software

  • Experience with distributed systems
