Responsibilities

  • Support design of Wastewater and water utilities related to capital program across Amgen network
  • Provide Wastewater & Water Utilities Related Expertise to our Operations network and partners
  • Translate business needs into engineering technology solutions.
  • Publish and maintain Engineering Standards and Specifications.
  • Review performance data and recommend improvements for systems.
  • Facilitate the case development of project proposals.
  • Analyze the system and facilities energy and water usage as well as utility costs to find opportunities for performing energy and water audits on sites.
  • Work with project design teams and external consultants to craft, develop, and support engineering project development, plans, standards, and equipment selection.
  • Investigate technology and issues. Design includes new and renovated systems. Deploy new technology. Ensure designs optimize the total equipment life cycle.
  • Develop and approve procedures for safe, efficient, and effective operation.
  • Support measurement and verification of site waste water & water projects to predict and verify the energy and water goals are achieved.
  • Advance digitalization tools for waste water & water and other engineering efforts.
  • Identify energy and water consumption improvement initiatives and innovative / alternative technologies to optimize utility usage.
  • Develop the assessment, cost analysis, technical feasibility, and lifecycle impact of potential energy, water, and waste reduction related projects.
  • Assist sites in trouble shooting, and remediation to prevent future occurrence throughout the network.
  • Develop and approve maintenance standards and techniques.
  • Travel up to 25%.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree
  • OR Master's degree and 2 years of engineering experience in relevant discipline (Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical Or Civil)
  • Or Bachelor's degree and 4 years of engineering experience in relevant discipline (Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical Or Civil)
  • Or Associate's degree and 8 years of engineering experience in relevant discipline (Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical Or Civil)
  • Or High school diploma / GED and 10 years of engineering experience in relevant discipline (Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical Or Civil)

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer license or completion of EIT with intention to pursue a PE license
  • Technical depth and strong collaboration in a diverse culture are key differentiators for this role.
  • Experience and / or knowledge of industrial, laboratory, and relevant manufacturing environments and systems, including but not limited to: biotechnology manufacturing operations, waste water treatment. motors, pumps
  • Knowledge of engineering principles to resolve operational issues and identify efficiency opportunities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, relationship building, and leadership skills
