About the position

The senior cost analyst position validates the existence of and correct valuation of the inventory accounts for the local component of the US balance sheet. This is accomplished by researching local transactions as recorded in the business system, verifying accuracy by discussing the nature of transactions with materials managements and operations personnel and reporting findings to the Manufacturing Accountant. Additionally, this position is responsible to accumulate, analyze and report on Operational Performance metrics for the US businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the annual standard cost roll of 1,500+ end item products across all US entities by providing input based on local specifics and known exceptional issues.
  • Assist with the appropriate valuation of local inventory records in the US database.
  • Organizes the annual physical inventory process at year, hosting the KPMG external auditors and reporting out the final results.
  • Responds to the SAP material creation and extension process by entering correct values in the data fields that are relevant for finance.
  • Monitor and report on local inventory balances by program/product to include movement trends, turns analysis composition of stock for all raw, work in process, finished goods consignment and demo stock as well as stock in transit.
  • Monitor ongoing local cycle counting count results ensuring accuracy and completeness with the intent to eliminate the annual physical count process.
  • Conduct periodic test counts and document results.
  • Assist with the analysis of local inventory provisions, in accordance with established division policy, by evaluating balances against future firm and forecasted demand along with historical usage trends and inventory aging.
  • Assist with the completion of routine service activity reports for local service activity using system information and the assistance of other site service personnel.
  • Assist with all Internal and External audit requests.
  • Cultivate a working relationship with the local operations and materials management staff so that there is constant communication shared between the groups resulting in correct transactions and an improvement in the integrity of the transactions in the business system.
  • Assist and prepare other Ad Hoc analyses as required.
  • Must comply with all applicable U.S. export and security regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Prefer MBA or advanced accounting degree.
  • 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing job cost environment.
  • Results oriented, inquisitive person motivated to own processes, see what needs to be improved and coordinate appropriate actions through to completions.
  • Must be accustomed to meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Basic understanding of the production process and Material Requirements Planning.
  • Experience with advanced Excel, basic MS Windows, Word and SAP desired.
  • DoD experience helpful but not mandatory.
  • Standard Cost systems including variance analysis.
  • Product Costed Bill of Materials.
  • Material Labor and Overhead calculations.
  • Strong communication skills with Sourcing, Supply Chain and Factory Supervisors.
