About The Position

Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for an experienced technical writer with a technical software background and a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our development team. Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the world’s structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions. Our industry-leading products are critical to many Fortune 1000 companies. We are adding a technical writer to our team in the Plano, TX office to document mainframe software. • Reports to a documentation supervisor along with other tech writing colleagues

• Consults with management on long-range goals
• Independently completes documentation work within management-set priorities
• Bachelors and 8+ years of related experience; at this level post-graduate coursework may be desirable, or Masters degree and 6+ years of related experience, or PhD and 3+ years of related experience

Nice To Haves

• Mainframe experience or familiarity is a big plus.

Responsibilities

• Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication.
• Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
• Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users.
• May document engineering processes and specifications.
• Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.
• Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.
