About the position

Solipsys Corporation, located in Fulton, MD, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Raytheon Technologies (RTX). We are currently looking for a talented Senior Principal Software Engineering, who is experienced in either C++ and/or Java, with an aptitude to work on software-intense distributed systems. The successful candidate will execute in direct technical leadership roles on various programs. Solipsys is an industry leader in the development of integrated Network Centric Warfare solutions for both the Domestic and International DoD and this candidate will be engaged with exciting and innovative advancements in Multi-Sensor and Information Fusion, Networked Situational Awareness, and Visualization technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate leadership skills with the ability to coordinate the activities of multiple engineers working on a program, ensuring successful technical execution and delivery of solutions for the customer.
  • Utilize proactive leadership skills to recognize issues early and lead and motivate teams by making smaller, decisive corrections to avoid larger problems.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels within and outside the company, preparing and delivering presentations/summaries that appropriately address the intended audience.
  • Design, architect and code critical capabilities in an active Agile environment.
  • Use Java and/or C++ to develop innovative new features and improvements for Command & Control (C2) Systems.
  • Work in a highly collaborative team environment to design, architect and innovate software solutions.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant work experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in software architecture and development with Java and/or C++.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals: such as data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, information retrieval.
  • Relevant work experience with full life cycle development including software requirements, design, development, debug and test.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated skills with C++ related Technologies: Boost/STL/Standard C++ Library/etc.
  • Demonstrated skills with Java SDK related Technologies.
  • Demonstrated development skills with web related technologies: Angular, Spring Boot, Containers, etc.
  • Experience developing, assessing and validating complex mathematical solutions such as track filters, track correlation algorithms, and weapon engagement algorithms, for sensors and/or C2 programs.
  • Demonstrated experience developing software in a Linux environment.
  • Supporting the research and application of new CI/CD solutions, tools, and capabilities, and development of migration strategies for effective adoption.
  • Supporting the maintenance and enhancement of the software development pipeline and extending the pipeline to include automated deployment and test (CI/CD).
  • Experience with managing cyber security processes including vulnerability assessments.
  • Experience developing system models, simulations, and complex algorithmic solutions, in addition to utilizing tools such as Matlab.
