Responsibilities
- Work with eBay's Payments Product and Financial Services teams, providing legal support on the rollout of new features and functionality.
- Develop and deliver the legal strategy for key areas of the user checkout experience.
- Translate primarily European and US financial regulations into clear requirements for product and engineering teams.
- Enable clients to provide a delightful customer checkout experience, embracing the appropriate level of smart risk.
- Work closely with the Payments Regulatory and Commercial team to provide business-focused, end-to-end legal support.
- Interact regularly with functional groups within the Company on transactional work and policy review.
Requirements
- 6+ years of post-qualification experience, preferably in the fintech space.
- Practical product counseling experience strongly desired.
- Experience in regulatory consumer financial protection.
- Knowledge of US state and federal money transmission laws and EU Payment Service Directives.
- Experience in commercial and consumer lending and alternative financing.
- Familiarity with card network rules.
- Understanding of privacy/data protection.
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning.
- Technical understanding of the payments and financial ecosystem, especially as relevant to marketplaces.
- Ability to build positive relationships quickly and interact with junior to senior business leaders.
- Consistent record of providing strong legal analysis and practical business recommendations.
- Strong curiosity about alternative payments and emerging payments technology.
- Ability to manage and deliver across multiple top-priority projects.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible and agile problem solver, with the ability to tolerate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to cherish innovation and believe that there is always room for improvement.
- Good sense of humor and team spirit.
- JD from an ABA accredited law school.
- State Bar membership.
