About the position
The Payments team is focused on creating a world where people can shop and sell with trust, and where every payment is a positive experience. As a Senior Product Designer on Payments you will be responsible for creating thorough, polished and intuitive designs for a complex problem space. Your designs will bring customers clear solutions to their payments needs and help Etsy bring the expansion of new payment methods. You will work closely with your partners across Product, User Research, and Analytics to spot the customer problems and define high-craft customer solutions. This position will blend creative and analytical skills, balancing multiple projects in an experimental and fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position reporting to our Senior Design Manager. Responsibilities
- Lead independently or provide direction to your squad, stepping in where needed to ensure collaboration and progress.
- Facilitate discovery and conceptualization workshops that align teams efficiently, identifying experiments, measuring their success, and iterating toward broader strategic goals.
- Design easy to use user flows and craft polished, interactive prototypes that bring your team's roadmap to life.
- Think and design at a systems level, crafting and influencing design systems to ensure consistency and scalability across projects.
- Share your work regularly with peers and leadership, incorporating feedback and collaborating closely with engineering to deliver high-quality results.
- Mentor designers by offering clear, actionable feedback in critiques, workshops, and team meetings, helping to elevate the quality of the team's work.
- Actively participate in onboarding and encourage a culture of engagement and collaboration within your design team.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience working in product design.
- A consistent track record of shipped work that demonstrates a strong understanding of design fundamentals, including visual hierarchy, interaction design, and the application of brand and system principles.
- Experience designing for native apps (iOS and Android) and familiarity with platform-specific interaction patterns.
- Worked closely with cross-functional partners to identify and define new opportunities, efficiently implementing ideas that deliver measurable positive results.
- Highly developed design skills with examples to showcase in your portfolio, including crafting end-to-end flows, creating polished prototypes, and applying a design system efficiently.
- Ability to articulate ideas and design solutions clearly and thoughtfully.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and know how to navigate and define projects where the problem space is well-understood but the solution space is less established.
