Senior Product Manager, Recommendations Relevance

About the position

Etsy is looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead one of the machine learning teams within the Recs Relevance sub-initiative. This role involves building ML solutions to address core buyer needs and drive business impact. The Recs Relevance initiative is part of Etsy's broader Recommendations initiative, which encourages buyers to explore new ideas, refine shopping missions, and uncover items they'll love. This is a full-time position that reports to the Group Product Manager, Recs Relevance, with a base salary range of $161,000 - $209,000 per year, along with an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Define product strategy aligning with overarching recommendations and personalization product vision using buyer insights and competitive analysis.
• Drive semi-annual roadmap planning translating it to quarterly objectives and key results.
• Collaborate with ML engineers and scientists to develop and refine core ML models aligning them with product objectives.
• Use experimentation to validate relevance improvements.
• Partner with squads across Etsy to ensure a cohesive buyer experience integrating recommendations seamlessly into the buyer journey.
• Stay informed of groundbreaking ML techniques and opportunities to expand Etsy's Recommendations strategy.

Requirements

• Proven track record (3+ years) of building and optimizing ML-powered products, particularly in recommendations, search, or similar domains.
• Strong foundation in A/B testing, including hypothesis formulation, results analysis, and iteration to achieve measurable outcomes.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse partners including engineering, design, research, and analytics.
• A track record of using data (qualitative and quantitative) to make tradeoffs and drive priorities to achieve business outcomes.
• Proactive demeanor with a passion for creative problem solving.
