About the position

We are looking for a Senior Retention Marketing Manager to join our team at Etsy and lead the roadmap and execution of machine learning and generative AI-driven experiences across our owned marketing channels, including email, push, and SMS. You will be instrumental in developing data- and model-powered campaigns that drive personalized engagement, user retention, and long-term growth. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners—including Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Design—to build scalable programs that bring intelligence, automation, and creativity into our customer centric marketing channels. This role is ideal for someone who can connect marketing goals with technical solutions and is excited by the opportunity to shape the future of personalization at Etsy through innovation. This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Manager of Retention Marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive ML-driven campaign strategy and roadmap that includes highly targeted and personalized email, push notifications, and SMS.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Marketing analytics teams to integrate personalized marketing strategies into the overall channel experience.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of campaigns to engage users with ML-powered personalization at scale.
  • Use data and analytics to identify user segments and personalize messaging to enhance user engagement and retention.
  • Using platform expertise to implement end-to-end campaigns with Braze or similar ESP.
  • Contribute to continuously improving team processes and efficiency by making recommendations and implementing measures that increases team agility.
  • Communicate and coordinate status updates, launch confirmations, ETAs, blockers, and dependencies on a weekly basis.
  • Occasionally work outside of normal business hours such as weekends, late nights, or early mornings depending on campaign launch times and any urgent messages that need to be delivered.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in a Retention Marketing role, with a focus on personalized strategies and sophisticated technical execution in a Marketing Automation Platform.
  • Strong technical expertise in Braze or similar ESP platforms, with hands-on experience building and optimizing campaigns.
  • Experience working closely with data science teams to design and launch experiments, such as A/B/n or multi-armed bandit tests.
  • Strong project management skills, delivering successful long term campaign execution and ability to work at a fast pace while handling competing priorities.
  • Technical skill with a proven track record to quickly learn new skills and assimilate new technologies.
  • Accountability to deliver high quality work and are proactive to share new insights with peers and leadership.
  • Strong critical thinking skills coupled with a bias towards action to anticipate and navigate the constantly evolving marketing landscape.
  • Natural collaborator who is able to build positive relationships across the company and drive decision-making for cross-functional teams.
  • Understand CAN-SPAM/CASL/GDPR requirements and inbox deliverability standards.
  • Understand the basics of data segmentation and attribution, including knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience using HTML to build and personalize marketing communications.
