The Senior Software Engineer - Decision Management Program will be part of a sophisticated, industry-leading intelligence team that structures and applies complex business logic across the payment journey to inform and accelerate decisions at scale. The Authorization Decisioning product within DMP combines powerful capabilities with access to all authorization messages available within Mastercard, allowing for immediate operational action based on insights.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in team prioritization discussions with Product/Business stakeholders
  • Defines requirements for new applications and customizations, adhering to standards, processes and best practices
  • Estimates and owns delivery tasks (design, dev, test, development, configuration, documentation) to meet the business/functional requirements
  • Responsible for the analysis, design, development and delivery of software solutions
  • Reports statuses and manages risks within the primary application/service
  • Reviews and monitors daily service volume and performance, reporting any inconsistencies
  • Participates in team ceremonies in alignment with Agile Methodology practices
  • Takes ownership of full end-to-end development, from planning to release
  • Actively participates, guides and monitors product/code launch
  • Works with Business/Product Owners to architect and deliver on new services to introduce new products and bundles
  • Takes ownership to improve the customer experience of an entire set of services/applications sold as products or bundled services
  • Contributes and leads Guild initiatives by engaging and mentoring Engineers at all levels to improve the craftsmanship of Software Engineering
  • Applies judgment and experience to balance trade-offs between competing interests
  • Ventures beyond comfort zone to take on assignments across different areas of Software Engineering
  • Consults across teams and across organization lines to identify synergies and reuse opportunities
  • Mentors and guides junior software engineers in the team to improve engineering productivity, quality, and technology policy compliance

Requirements

  • Ability to write secure code in three or more languages (e.g., C, C+, C#, Java, JavaScript, COBOL, SQL)
  • Familiarity with secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) and vulnerability management
  • Understands and implements standard branching (e.g., Gitflow) and peer review practices
  • Understands and builds test code at the unit level, service level, and integration level to ensure code and functional coverage
  • Skills to promote and coach teams on full stack development and facilitate end-to-end service ownership
  • Understands internals of operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mainframe) to write interoperable and performant code; able to perform debugging and troubleshooting
  • Oracle knowledge is a plus
  • Splunk knowledge is a plus
