About the position
Fubo is committed to building the world’s leading global live TV streaming platform with a focus on premium content and interactivity. The company operates in the U.S., Canada, France, and Spain, with a growing technology center in Bangalore, India. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in New York City on a hybrid basis, working in the office three times a week. This role involves building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and performant systems that power our video infrastructure and core services. The VidIOS team manages all aspects of linear video, including ingest, storage, distribution, advertising, scheduling, and client playback at scale. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with various teams to design efficient systems that meet key business needs.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-throughput, low-latency video backend services, focusing on scalable architecture and efficient data processing.
- Instrument services with detailed metrics, distributed tracing, structured logging, and health checks for real-time observability.
- Own the reliability lifecycle, including designing SLIs/SLOs and leading incident response and triage.
- Architect scalable and event-driven services and microservices to support millions of concurrent viewers.
- Collaborate with SRE and partner teams to optimize service performance across edge caches, CDNs, and cloud regions.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical planning to ensure long-term system health and resilience.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience delivering production-quality software in complex, high-traffic environments.
- Expertise in Go (primary), Python, Java, or similar languages.
- Strong foundation in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven design patterns.
- Proven infrastructure skills, including monitoring, alerting, logging, and incident response best practices.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and working with relational or SQL-like databases.
- Familiarity with video playback services and streaming technologies such as HLS, DASH, CMAF, SSAI, DRM.
- Skilled in deploying and managing systems in cloud environments (e.g., GCP, AWS) with tools like Kubernetes and Terraform.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in video streaming, CDN, or media infrastructure domains.
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) or machine learning techniques.
- Familiarity with content recommendation engines, audience segmentation, or A/B testing frameworks.
