The Commerce, Growth & Identity (CGI) team is dedicated to three business-critical areas at Disney that will help transform its media business, creating seamless user experiences for consumers and building innovative capabilities that drive subscriptions, engagement, and monetization across Disney's streaming and digital products. We are seeking a talented and dedicated Senior Software Engineer to join our Payment team, managing payment transactions for millions of customers across platforms like Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu.

Responsibilities

  • Manage crucial payment systems and play an integral role in our multi-tenant system that processes payments, ensuring it remains highly available, scalable, and resilient.
  • Influence technical direction as a member of our fast-paced and rapidly growing team, helping shape the technical architecture and direction of our Tier 1 services.
  • Explore international payment landscapes and gain insights into global payment challenges and strategies as we expand our streaming services worldwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Proven ability in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems, showcasing technical depth and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with AWS products and services (including EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, RDS, ElastiCache, CloudFront, etc.), or experience with other cloud platforms.
  • In-depth experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
  • A history of successfully taking ownership of features/functionality and delivering end-to-end projects with high quality and robust architecture.
  • Exceptional social skills with a proven track record of working effectively with multi-functional business partners.
  • The capability to delve into any technical component, coupled with an understanding of the overall system architecture.

  • Experience in functional programming with Scala.
