The Principal Financial Planning Analyst role is essential for ensuring the financial health and strategic direction of the Global Payments & Trade business line. As the financial landscape becomes increasingly complex and competitive, having a dedicated expert to drive financial analysis, process improvements, and robust controls is critical for informed decision-making and sustainable growth. This position enables the business to anticipate financial challenges and capitalise on opportunities by providing accurate forecasting, data-driven insights, and comprehensive business partnering. Ultimately, the role supports senior leadership in executing strategic initiatives and maintaining a competitive edge in the market. BNY is seeking to hire a dynamic, self-motivated Principal Financial Planning Analyst to support the Global Payments & Trade business line. The role provides support to the business and is critical for driving analysis, process improvement, financial analysis and controls, in addition delivering on strategic initiatives. The individual will identify the financial strategy needs, and partner with the business to ensure needs are met. We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, to join our Business Planning and Analysis team. This role is located in New York. In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Accounting Body qualified
• 10-12 years of total work experience preferred; experience in financial planning and analysis preferred
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Good judgement, maturity and poise to enable interaction/influencing of senior management
• Thoughtful analytical skills; able to develop, clearly present and draw conclusions
• Self-starter; ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
• Disciplined approach to managing processes and controls
• Energetic, self-motivated and effective under pressure
• Strong analytical and data manipulation skills; proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Finance Business Partner for three Product business heads.
• Perform complex analyses—both historical and predictive—to support a range of finance processes. This includes period close activities, evaluating forecasted revenue and expenses against actual results, and delivering metrics and scorecard reports. Identify trends and present findings to finance leadership or other relevant business stakeholders.
• Lead the selection of methodologies and key assumptions in preparing short-term and long-range forecasts, ensuring these reflect shifts in business strategy and competitive intelligence impacting different business lines.
• Participate in developing annual operating, capital, and strategic plans. Gather and analyze financial information, conduct sophisticated evaluations when necessary, and communicate findings and implications to senior leaders.
• Analyze the financial impact of new products and initiatives within Product Groups.
• Conduct advanced trend analysis on financial data and operational performance concerning highly complex topics.
• Contribute to the advancement of the finance team's strategic objectives
• Develop and implement process improvements leveraging automation and AI to enhance team efficiency and service standards.
• Attend governance meetings and forums as required.
• Build effective relationships across all Finance and relevant functional teams.
• Oversee the MAQ management unit hierarchy for the Product Group
• Take part in ad hoc projects as needed.
