About the position
We are looking for a Software Engineer interested in working primarily on the Device Components and Tier-1 cloud services like Over-the-Air updates and bidirectional Device - Cloud communication to continue bringing new functionality for these critical use cases. Our engineers are top-notch software developers who love listening to the customers, working as a team, and proactively taking the lead on complex software problems. A successful candidate will be responsible for creating and delivering software solutions that have the potential to impact hundreds of millions customers around the world. In this role, you will have an opportunity to own design and development of key parts of these solutions. You will have influence on subsystem design and help build a team culture around practices that are critical to a quality product. If you feel strongly about building world class software, running a high volume, large scale fleet, have experience in developing device software, and/or C/C++/Rust software with strict performance requirements, we would like to talk to you.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of key Device Component features.
- Will work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
- Will work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software.
- Development experience defining, developing and maintaining REST based interfaces is a plus.
- Communicate with other business teams in E-Reader/Tablet/Fire-TV/Alexa to name a few.
- Collect the business requirements.
- Help describe software product features.
- Build technical designs and architecture.
- Write code with at most care for customer data security and customer's privacy.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Nice-to-haves
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Experience in embedded wireless systems.
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++.
