About the position

PayPal Data Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of PayPal Inc., seeks Software Engineer 2 in Austin, TX. The role involves working with the Agile team to create new software products and features requested by the Product team. Responsibilities include analyzing requirements, preparing designs, and developing robust, scalable software systems using object-oriented programming. The engineer will collaborate with other software developers to design and implement required solutions and maintain existing software product capabilities. Participation in formal and informal code reviews to ensure software code quality is expected, along with contributing to the automated test suite to enable continuous software integration. The role also includes assisting with software application deployments in PayPal’s Cloud environment, creating user interfaces, resolving cross-browser and backward compatibility issues, and debugging complex JavaScript bugs throughout the stack. Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Agile team to create new software products and features.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript.
  • Experience with Node.js and Express.js.
  • Knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Familiarity with jQuery.
  • Experience with JSON Web Tokens (JWT).
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
  • Familiarity with RESTful API.
  • Experience in Data Science and Machine Learning with Python and R.
  • Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming in Java and Python.
