About the position

PayPal, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 3 in Austin, TX. The role involves designing, developing, and testing performance-efficient payment features and functions delivered for PayPal features. The engineer will create high-traffic backend web services for external customer-facing web applications, collaborate with peers and clients to create technical solutions, analyze issues, understand requirements, and deliver quality products. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes, ensuring on-time delivery, and interacting with project managers to provide input on project plans. The engineer will investigate and address performance bottlenecks to scale services and ensure quality by creating test frameworks for test execution and automation. The position requires developing high-performance, scalable, and highly available web services using J2EE and frameworks such as REST and Jersey, working in an Agile environment with a focus on problem-solving and engineering excellence. The engineer will also create and deploy dashboards for visualizations, monitor production environments, performance of one boxes, bugs, and anomalous behavior, create alerts to determine customer failed interaction spikes, and create load and performance tests. Partial telecommuting is permitted from a commutable distance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a closely related field.
  • Two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
