About the position

This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems. HII works within our nation’s intelligence and cyber operations communities to defend our interests in cyberspace and anticipate emerging threats. Our capabilities in cybersecurity, network architecture, reverse engineering, software and hardware development uniquely enable us to support sensitive missions for the U.S. military and federal agency partners. Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Mission Technologies Warfare Systems partners with the DoD and defense innovation ecosystem to rapidly acquire and field critical and emerging technologies, particularly integrated communications, networking, and Systems-of-Systems (SoS) technologies, to enhance national security and warfighter capabilities. Through a multiagency contracting approach, the Collaborative Operations for Battlespace Resilient Architecture (COBRA) initiative focuses on advancing these technologies to achieve multi-domain battlespace integration and resilient command and control. This includes a broad range of services such as systems engineering, cybersecurity, operational integration, and data analytics, all aimed at modernizing communications and ensuring seamless information exchange for the DoD and its allies.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs application software and systems that contain logical, mathematical, and AI/ML-driven solutions in a cloud environment.
  • Uses advanced algorithms to integrate capabilities into systems, enabling predictive modeling and intelligent decision-making processes.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers, hardware engineers, and simulation specialists to plan, design, develop, and optimize electronic data processing systems.
  • Leverages Modeling and Simulation techniques to evaluate system performance, improve design accuracy, and test scenarios for real-world applications.
  • Determines computer user needs and integrates system analytics to enhance user experiences and functionality.
  • Analyzes system capabilities and resolves complex problems related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
  • Prepares operating instructions that align with the latest advancements in development, architecture, and simulation strategies.
  • Designs and develops compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems, incorporating adaptive and self-learning algorithms where applicable.
  • Facilitates, documents, analyzes, and reports results from tabletop exercises.
  • Uses modeling and simulation visualization tool Swift for wargaming, adjudication analysis, and documentation.

Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Must possess an active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of system development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and propose effective solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DoD systems and acquisition lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with systems modeling or simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
