About the position

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. The Launch Control Systems team is responsible for designing, building and testing the software, hardware and networking systems that will be used to launch the next generation rocket for NASA. As part of the Software Process Automation team, you will be responsible for automating the development, test and provisioning aspects of the software development pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Provide software development support to the Command & Control Systems (C&C) directorate.
  • Work on the analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software for the Launch Control System.
  • Explore new ideas and develop actionable solutions to software delivery pipeline challenges.
  • Clearly communicate concepts, ideas and accomplishments to peers and leadership.
  • Utilize CMMI compliant processes to develop, modify and maintain software source code and applications.
  • Prioritize and execute in a fast-paced environment with varying requirements and deadlines.
  • Produce consistent positive results.
  • Perform software development following design, coding standards and documented promotion and configuration management processes.
  • Perform technical reviews of code, test, and design.
  • Support technical meetings involving engineers of other disciplines, stakeholders, vendors, or management.
  • Provide regular status updates to show progress and identify roadblocks early.
  • Evaluate all safety critical software for both its safety as an independent component and as it contributes to the overall system safety.
  • Develop Software Safety Plans for project, program or facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or other related degree.
  • Must be proficient in one or more of the following: C++, Java, Bash, Python.
  • Must be able to think outside of the box, challenge the status quo, and continuously strive for improvements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins.
  • Experience with Code Collaborator.
  • Familiarity with JAMA.
  • Experience with Clear Quest.
