About the position
Discord is used by over 200 million people every month for many different reasons, but there’s one thing that nearly everyone does on our platform: play video games. Over 90% of our users play games, spending a combined 1.5 billion hours playing thousands of unique titles on Discord each month. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games. This position is US based only. We're looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our Growth team at Discord. In this role, you'll help build features and systems that provide meaningful value to our users while expanding our community. You’ll work cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, Design, and other teams to create best in class experiences for our users. You will be reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager of Discovery.
Responsibilities
- Work with other full-stack engineers on your team to build new features and expand existing capabilities across our product surfaces across Web, Android, iOS, and beyond.
- Own problems end to end — from owning technical specifications, implementing changes, and seeing the project through to launch.
- Develop a deep understanding of our users, and work with cross-functional partners to build experience that acquire, activate, and retain users.
- Work closely with Design to deliver visually refined and exceptional user experiences across all of our client platforms.
- Contribute to a fast-paced product engineering team by rapidly prototyping new features and developing principled learnings through experimentation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of software engineering experience.
- Experience with web technologies (React, TypeScript), Android (React Native, Kotlin), iOS (React Native, Objective-C, Swift), and backend (Python and some Elixir).
- A growth mindset.
