About the position

Our Connected Aviation – Air Traffic Solutions - Software Engineering Department (ATS-SED) is looking for a talented Software Engineers to join our team of engineers that are developing and supporting our several Air Traffic Control Systems worldwide, such as: STARS, NWP, AutoTrac product lines. Our programs are safety-of-life air traffic management systems we have developed for the FAA and international equivalents for use by air traffic controllers controlling civil and military aviation. This is an opportunity to learn new COTS, tools, processes, and methodologies as you focus on improving your skills to support, design, develop, integrate, and test operational software components throughout the SW development life-cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Performing/Supporting the software team to design, develop, integrate and test operational and non-operational software updates for our Air Traffic Control (ATC) Product Line software.
  • Updating SW process documentation and work instructions needed to meet ATS SED’s high maturity level software engineering standards and processes.
  • Collaborative working with the software team and leadership to support cost and schedule.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Experience working across the full software development lifecycle using C/C++ and/or Python.
  • Experience in software testing, debugging source code including familiarity with ClearCase/ClearQuest, Git, Jira, and/or Bitbucket for configuration management and workflow management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing and debugging C/C++ software in a Unix/Linux environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks (e.g., Jenkins, Test-Driven Development).
  • Proficiency with scripting languages and tools such as Python, SQL, and Bash/KornShell.
  • Experience using software development and configuration management tools like Jira, Git, Bitbucket, and ClearCase.
  • Understanding of relational databases and database schema design (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server).
