About the position
An expanding, entrepreneurial technology company, Alarm.com is seeking a motivated iOS Mobile Software Developer to join our Home Automation Experience team. The ideal candidate will contribute to the creation of high-quality features with our iOS mobile application, working closely with Product Management, Quality Engineering, and our other software engineers, adding and maintaining features for our end users. You will leverage new and old Apple technologies while developing in an Agile environment. Typical projects will involve a variety of technologies and skills and will occasionally require full stack development and design of new features in our system. We’re looking for a candidate with a background in computer science or computer engineering. Very few small companies innovate and develop across such a broad range of technologies as Alarm.com. This position is ideal for a candidate who seeks a friendly company culture where one can work closely with smart and highly productive people. Getting to work with cutting edge software and hardware to develop outstanding consumer products is the icing on the cake.
Responsibilities
- Develop on iOS mobile applications for iPhone as well as server-side APIs
- Write coherent, organized code. The ideal candidates must be comfortable working on a complicated code-base with high levels of abstraction
- Implement multi-device application features as part of an interactive Agile development process
- Engage in the research, evaluation, and application of new technologies and methodologies to solve challenging problems.
- Take part in the entire project life cycle, from requirements development to deployment, working with Product Management and Quality Assurance, with respect to deadlines.
- Work hard and be flexible: we have quick development cycles, evolving requirements, and lots of cross-team collaboration.
- Exercise good judgment. Know when to work quickly, and when to build a robust solution.
- Innovate and improve existing products and mobile app features - bring your ideas! We want our engineers to collaborate on product development, not blindly build to a spec.

Requirements
- B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of professional software development experience
- 2+ years of iOS experience – Swift, Objective-C
- Strong object-oriented programming skills; C# a plus
- Experience with creating and maintaining unit tests
- Understanding of computer science fundamentals: operating systems, data structures, algorithmic analysis, concurrency
- Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with various teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Rigorous attention to detail and focus on quality of deliverables
- Passion for working with technology and excitement for creating high quality consumer technology products
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Cocoa Touch, iOS SDK, Core Animation
- Experience with Git, JSON, Rest, XML and XHTML
- Experience with Smart Home Assistants
- Experience with unit testing
- Experience with or knowledge of common architectural patterns: MVP, MVVM
