We’re looking for a software engineer to join the Onboarding and Marketplace team – the group responsible for building the core systems that power the insurance marketing process. From submission intake and appetite matching to carrier marketing and quote tracking, this team owns the tooling and automation that drive how we connect clients with the right coverage options. You’ll help design and scale systems that support high-leverage workflows used by brokers, account managers, and clients — ensuring that the process of marketing, quoting, and binding insurance is as efficient, transparent, and user-friendly as possible. This work is central to how we deliver value to clients and differentiate ourselves in a competitive industry. It is a high-impact org and owns multiple domains such as: Core insurance data platform to power all insurance products, operations and intelligence; Admin ecosystem to empower insurance professional to service and marketing insurance; Client facing ecosystem to empower clients to understand, manage and use their insurance and manage their risks; Emerging AI / LLM powered applications to supercharge both clients and admin to automate insurance operations and usage. This position is a salary, exempt, and full-time position. This is a Hybrid role (within the USA) with the option to work from any of Newfront's office locations.
Responsibilities
- Be a crucial contributor within the team, working through ambiguity, concept validation and implementing a best-in-class solution.
- Identify areas of improvement and drive foundation opportunities on the web and backend.
- Collaborate with cross-functional design, product, and data science teams to design and deliver high-quality products and influence outcomes.
- Follow data-driven approaches to iterate product features.
- Help cultivate innovation and growth by contributing to cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
- In the AI domain, implement the rapid prototyping of software applications applying AI / ML technologies.
Requirements
- BS, MS or PhD in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of professional experience on software engineering and web application development at scale.
- Experience designing, building large systems at enterprise.
- Strong programming and data engineering in one or more backend server languages (Java/Python/Ruby/Go/TypeScript/etc.).
- Experience with web development best practices such as container, docker, continuous integration and continuous deployment.
- Proficiency with RDBMS such as MySQL/PostgreSQL.
- Ability to effectively communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to take a thoughtful, pragmatic, and efficient approach to problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves
- Experience using TypeScript on the backend is preferred.
- Experience with JavaScript backend frameworks such as Express/Node.js/Nest.js is preferred.
- Experience with data pipeline and data driven analytics.
- Experience with any of these DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, Authorization, Authentication, Search Infrastructure (Elastic Search).
- Experience with deploying or leveraging ML model and LLM to power business.
- Experience with state-of-the-art LLMs techniques, models and vendors.
- Experience with LLM and other related frameworks like Langchain, LLamaIndex.
- Strong experience with popular AI/ML libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
