About the position

Join the Siemens Healthineers Molecular Imaging team to design and develop advanced test software and methods for complex Positron Emission Tomography (PET) detectors and electronics. This role spans the entire product lifecycle, including prototype evaluation, reliability and performance testing, system integration, manufacturing launch, and sustaining support through commercialization. You'll play a key role in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and performance of next-generation PET technologies that contribute to improving patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Developing integration test software for production detector test equipment.
  • Creating suitable software architecture for applications encompassing test workflow control, graphical user interfaces, database communication, hardware (HW) control, complex data processing, and reporting.
  • Initiating data acquisition for PET detectors and characterizing their performance using complex signal processing and statistical evaluations against requirement specifications.
  • Creating test and calibration methods based on design specifications, working closely with physicists and engineers.
  • Utilizing C# and Python to create intuitive GUI applications for automated hardware testing and developing debugging and integration tools for use by production personnel and engineers.
  • Establishing and maintaining thorough and accurate engineering logbooks, data sets, test procedures, and adhering to formal documentation practices required for medical device products.
  • Creating technical documentation to support the release and change management of software components.
  • Attending team meetings and design reviews, providing feedback and recommendations.
  • Working with domestic and international suppliers to implement and support test sets used in production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent disciplines required.
  • 5+ years of experience in SW development with Python (using libraries such as Numpy, Matplotlib, Pandas, PySide – Qt Framework).
  • Experience with unit test frameworks, version control systems, preferably git.
  • Experience in using Visual Studio Code or similar integrated development environments.
  • Experience in developing HW control / test SW.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in C# and LabVIEW is optional but preferred.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, and Python, with a demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for learning new programming languages and frameworks as needed.
  • A strong passion for developing efficient methods, algorithms, and software solutions, with the capability to deliver results both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture principles, including modular design and code refactoring best practices.
  • Hands-on experience in electronics integration and experimental system work, with familiarity in standard communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, CAN, RS-232, and Ethernet.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot failures across system, software, firmware, and component levels.
  • Experience in translating functional requirements and working designs into effective test methods and validation strategies.
