About the position

Leidos is looking for a qualified Software Engineer to support the Custom Border Patrol TVPS program that handles all the travelers coming into the country via Airports, Seaports, Pedestrian, and Vehicle lanes. This position is focused on the support other teams within the contract and client applications. Leidos is looking for a software engineer that can develop code and help troubleshoot issues arising from working with the different teams. Ideally, this individual will work independently and with other members of the team in design, develop solutions and creating test cases for new development, as well as supporting deployment of the software to the production environment to ensure that all systems are working properly. This position also requires an individual to support testing with all of the client application teams as part of the testing phase of the new developed code. In addition, this person must be available to support issues or concerns associated with the travelers if the need ever arrives. This includes participating in on-call rotation over evenings, holidays and weekends if it is needed. This position REQUIRES the candidate to be in Ashburn, VA, twice a week.

Responsibilities

  • Develop code and troubleshoot issues arising from working with different teams.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with team members in design and development.
  • Create test cases for new development.
  • Support deployment of software to the production environment.
  • Ensure all systems are working properly.
  • Support testing with client application teams during the testing phase.
  • Participate in on-call rotation over evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Over 10 years of experience with Java, Spring-Boot, Maven, React, Angular languages/frameworks/testing.
  • Must be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to start.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Experience in troubleshooting problems.
  • Good customer interaction and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with other teams to develop requirements.
  • Good communication skills including documentation and ticket resolution.
  • Willingness to support the contract during evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed.
  • Willingness to travel to the DC area once or twice a week for on-site visits to Ashburn.
  • Ability to work with a team or independently.
  • Ability to analyze logs to determine the cause of issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Harness, Gitlab, Confluence, Jira, Agile development.
  • DHS BI clearance.
  • Experience developing test cases for testers to use during the testing phase.
