About the position

As a Software Engineer in Corporate Technology, you will partner with product owners, tech leads, designers, engineers and delivery professionals to improve financial reporting applications and dashboards. You will code, test and debug new and existing applications as you implement capabilities to solve sophisticated business problems, deploy innovative products, services and experiences for the Finance and Actuarial community. In addition to application development, the role will have opportunities to engineer data pipelines and build dashboards with a variety of business intelligence tools.

Responsibilities

  • Build front-end applications ensuring that the code follows latest coding practices and standards
  • Use programming languages including but not limited to Python, Java, or JavaScript and React, Springboot, Node.js frameworks
  • Engineer data pipelines and dashboards using Power BI, Oracle BI, and Essbase reporting tools
  • Collaborate with product owners in understanding needs and defining feature stories
  • Work with tech leads in defining technical design and other team members to understand the system end-to-end
  • Write unit, integration tests and functional automation
  • Research problems discovered by quality assurance or product support, developing solutions to address the problems

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or experience in related fields
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Knowledge of business concepts tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business
  • Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with programming languages: Python, Java or JavaScript; working in distributed systems, object oriented programming, design patterns and design methodology
  • Experience with JAVA services using Spring
  • Familiarity with frameworks: React, Springboot, Node.js, such as Full / MEAN / MERN stack
  • Knowledge of relational data structures and SQL
  • Understanding of Business Intelligence tools: Power BI, Tableau or similar tools
  • Experience with Application Programming Interfaces (API): Consumption & Development; implementing service oriented architecture (SOA) patterns; Web service technologies such as APIs, REST, JSON, SOAP, XML, JDBC, MySQL
  • Familiarity with unit, interface and end user testing concepts and tooling (functional & non-functional)
  • Experience with automated testing
  • Knowledge of Dev Ops Tools & Practices: Branching techniques and usage of GitHub, Bitbucket or Subversion; DevOps, Jenkins
  • Familiarity with AWS Core Services: AWS Services such as S3, glue, lambda, Athena, and ECS/Fargate
