Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Test Engineer / Principal Software Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at Schriever Space Force Base, in Colorado Springs, CO. Relocation Assistance is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Perform software testing activities for program software.
  • Work within a Scrum team to define and execute test cases as product capability is matured.
  • Work in a technical team environment characterized by frequently changing tasks, new priorities requiring quick responses.
  • Support the program through milestones to achieve the Missile Defense mission by providing quality software to the community.
  • Collaborate and communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 0 years of related experience.
  • Experience with Atlassian (Jira/Confluence) tool suite.
  • Experience with complex software systems, including configuring and executing.
  • Knowledgeable on development lifecycles, including the V-model of the systems engineering process.
  • Familiarity with the Missile Defense System and mission.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team and lead to solve technical problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include creating documentation during testing.
  • Experience using a version control system (Git, Subversion, etc.).
  • Experience with testing sophisticated software within Agile or SAFe.
  • The ability and willingness to travel up to 10% as needed to support business needs.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance which is required to start.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or related field.
  • Software development experience.
  • Experience with writing scripts using a variety of languages (Python, MATLAB, JavaScript).
  • Experience with Modeling and Simulation products.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering experience (SysML/UML).
  • Program experience within the Missile Defense Agency elements (GMD, Aegis BMD, C2BMC, etc.).
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Fundamental understanding of software development testing methodologies.
