About the position

The Spanish Language Arts Teacher position at Woodland Middle School is designed for a dedicated educator who is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment. The role requires the teacher to implement the Woodland District 50 curriculum effectively, including Response to Intervention (RtI) and Common Core Standards. The teacher will instruct and motivate English Language Learners (ELL) to develop competencies in both English and Spanish, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of students. The position emphasizes collaboration with staff and paraprofessionals to support students with special needs and requires maintaining a positive school climate through adherence to the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Woodland District 50 curriculum including RtI and Common Core Standards.
  • Instruct and motivate ELL students in English and Spanish.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Adhere to guidelines in the Woodland School District 50 Staff Handbook.
  • Support a positive school climate through district programs.
  • Order materials and supplies within budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with staff and paraprofessionals for special needs students.
  • Maintain standards of pupil conduct for a safe environment.
  • Evaluate and maintain records of student performance.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
  • Supervise students during classroom and school events.
  • Participate in team and faculty meetings and professional development.
  • Develop lesson plans and materials for ELL and dual language students.
  • Conduct in-service workshops for staff and parents.
  • Translate documentation for home/school communication.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing education.

Requirements

  • Illinois Professional Educator License valid for Grades 6-8 with Spanish endorsement.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Teaching or student teaching experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Illinois Professional Educator License valid for Grades 6-8 with Bilingual-Spanish and Language Arts endorsements.
  • Teaching or student teaching experience in a middle school language arts and/or bilingual classroom.
