About the position

The Special Education Teacher (ISEC) at Woodland Elementary School is responsible for assisting students in remedying academic and behavioral delays. This role involves consulting with school staff regarding appropriate behavioral and academic interventions for students in both regular and special education. The position is within a self-contained classroom setting. The teacher will implement the Woodland District 50 curriculum, including Response to Intervention (RtI) and Common Core State Standards, while contributing to a positive school climate through the support of the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in remedying academic and behavioral delays.
  • Consult with school staff regarding appropriate behavioral/academic interventions.
  • Implement the Woodland District 50 curriculum including RtI and Common Core State Standards.
  • Collaborate with staff and paraprofessionals to meet the needs of students with special needs.
  • Maintain control of storage and use of school-owned property.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding students' progress.
  • Develop and complete measurable IEP goals and objectives.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and differentiate instruction.
  • Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with appropriate school personnel.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records of student attendance, projects, and grades.

Requirements

  • Illinois Professional Educators License with LBS-1 Endorsement registered in Lake County.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Prior teaching experience or student teaching experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with educational life skills teaching.
  • Experience with low incidence population and behavior planning.
  • Fluency in Spanish.

Benefits

  • Salary range from $42,199 to $59,249 based on experience and education.
