Guidewire Policy Center Developer (Specialist, Software Engineer) This role supports the PLS Product Pricing Value Stream. The Pricing team is growing with an increased scope to deliver multiple initiatives related to profitable actions such as Pricing Sophistication, PUL Redesign, and Extensive Protectors. These initiatives will help enable profitable growth, respond to market volatility, provide desired customer discounts, and improve rates for risk. This is one of the value streams in Nationwide P&C that has been growing continuously for the past four years. Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.
  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
  • Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Guidewire products, specifically Guidewire Policy Center Version 10+.
  • Experience with unit testing, code coverage, and best practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs.
  • Understanding of Kafka and Microservices.
  • Monitoring using NewRelic and Splunk.
  • Understanding of SQL databases, with the ability to write queries.
  • Insurance experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of DevOps and Agile methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with IIBv10 Aggregation, Message Flows, Message Maps, and ESQL is a huge plus.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
