About the position

The Sports Marketing Assistant position at Linn-Benton Community College supports the Athletics department in promoting and publicizing athletic events to the LBCC campus and surrounding communities. The role involves developing, executing, and promoting game-day activities, which include photography, video production, writing press releases, managing social media, and utilizing various marketing resources and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with general publicity and promotion of athletics events to the LBCC campus communities and communities within Linn and Benton counties.
  • Assists with photography, videography, graphic design, social media feeds, and website content related to marketing and promotion of athletics.
  • Responsible for the development and execution of promotional activities related to home athletic events such as spectator contests, giveaways, and partnerships with outside organizations.
  • Plans and organizes outreach activities and communications to college students, staff, and faculty, as well as the broader community, utilizing social media, LBLive, email, fliers, posters, website, etc.
  • Prepares marketing, promotional, and special event materials, including print, video, website, social media, and related activities.
  • Writes athletic event recap stories, creates postings for the website and social media feeds, and independently creates feature stories with video and graphics to highlight athletics, individual teams, coaches, and student-athletes.
  • Assists in writing press releases and other public relations materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC and maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term.
  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better (some positions may require a higher GPA).
  • Requires good organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have general office skills and be comfortable using computers, video equipment, camera equipment, and other technology.
  • Requires strong communication skills to interact effectively with people of varying educational levels and cultural backgrounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of college-level writing and communication coursework.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using video and camera equipment.
  • Experience using social media and instant messaging to connect with students.
