Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. It is a senior role requiring the person to be comfortable ideating, documenting and delivering hands on, while working in a fast paced environment that prides itself on thinking big as well as taking ownership. The work done within this team will have lasting impact on all future consumer electronics categories shipped by Amazon, including Alexa, FireTV and Automotive partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Take part in the implementation and delivery of graphics related features for our devices.
  • Work closely with the hardware and QA teams, as well as partners to take the product from concept to customer release while ensuring the highest level of quality for deliverables.
  • Create innovative new products that are used by millions of users.
  • Perform new SoCs platform bring up and develop/enable graphics features.
  • Develop applications, extend features, and create new benchmarks for performance evaluation.
  • Drive vendor requirements on future CPU, GPU, and Display Controller technology.
  • Perform and drive technical deep dives with key IP and SoC vendors.
  • Do hands-on development of features from application layer down to kernel and HW in the graphics domain.
  • Be highly effective and thrive in a dynamic environment with multiple, changing priorities.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 6+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
  • 6+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
