About the position

The Sr Software Engineer role at Blue Yonder involves delivering high-quality design and implementation while driving product development features across the organization. The position requires developing REST services, efficient code, and providing standardized enterprise solutions for cloud infrastructure. The engineer will apply software engineering patterns to build robust systems and influence fellow engineers through design proposals and feedback. The role also includes problem-solving for operational issues and supporting production on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop quality software according to clean code principles and Blue Yonder standards.
  • Participate in team activities such as backlog grooming, planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Translate business requirements to user stories and seek feedback from stakeholders.
  • Lead designs of individual stories and translate designs to subtasks.
  • Consider information security aspects while coding and reviewing code.
  • Stay updated with technology and research latest industry trends.
  • Act as an expert in a designated technical area for implementation and operational issues.
  • Design, architect, implement, and document next-generation system architecture and automation solutions.
  • Evaluate and coach other engineers on technical and interpersonal best practices.
  • Provide support and guidance for day-to-day operations and systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Spring Boot, Python, and Bash.
  • Ability to debug and diagnose issues in complex enterprise applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Python, Bash, HTML, CSS, XML, JSON, OOD, Linux/Unix, and Windows platforms.
  • Excellent team player with a go-get attitude.
  • Experienced Agilist with good communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of GitHub, GitHub Actions, and DevSecOps.
  • Intermediate understanding of virtualization and cloud computing concepts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience writing medium-sized OO-libraries with solid design and documentation.
  • Experience with writing OAS specifications.
  • Experience in writing interpreters, parsers, or code generators.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
