About the position
We’re seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join a high-impact, new initiative within the Breeze Assistant team at HubSpot. Breeze Assistant is a fully conversational AI chief of staff designed specifically for Go-to-Market (GTM) teams. By integrating frontier AI capabilities with rich data from HubSpot and third-party applications, Breeze provides an AI assistant that fundamentally transforms team collaboration and productivity. As a Staff Engineer on the Breeze Assistant team, you’ll do many things—and you likely already have experience doing some of them in the past.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-value, high-impact, cross-team projects.
- Drive the product vision forward through strong collaboration skills and hands-on coding.
- Provide strategic direction for major projects and drive technical decisions.
- Mentor and teach engineers in their areas of expertise.
- Maintain a hands-on approach to all technical aspects while providing leadership.
- Exhibit enthusiasm for building reliable, scalable systems.
Requirements
- Long track record of experience delivering high-value, high-impact, cross-team projects.
- Extensive full-stack engineering experience, particularly with deep backend expertise.
- Proficiency with technologies like Java, Node.js, MySQL, Kafka, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience developing new products from scratch, ideally involving complex integrations.
- Hands-on experience or familiarity with Generative AI technologies.
- Strong grasp of secure, compliant application development practices.
- Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and pragmatic engineering skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience developing desktop applications with frameworks like Electron, SwiftUI, or AppKit.
- Familiarity with HubSpot or other CRM platforms and integrations.
- Demonstrable interest or previous work in developing collaborative and conversational user experiences.
