About The Position

The Food and Nutrition Services Department will be sponsoring the City of Boston's Summer Food Services Program. The goal of the program is to provide nutritious meals to children who are attending various community centers and public/private agency summer programs in the City of Boston. The program will primarily operate Monday through Friday, however, there may be a few Saturday sites. This position is required to work the duration of the Summer Program; as needed. Mandatory training will be provided. Terms: Stipend : $21.00 per hour, 7 hours per day Schedule : Regular workday shift will vary based upon site programming - start/end times Reports to: Field Monitor

Requirements

• Food Safety or Food Handler Certification
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Must have good math skills
• Dependable, available for the duration of the Summer Programming
• Must be willing to travel to all City of Boston neighborhoods
• Must have good attendance and evaluations

Nice To Haves

• College Degree
• Supervisory experience
• Familiarity with education and recreation programs for children in an urban setting
• Prior food service industry experience

Responsibilities

• Ensures that site personnel maintain accurate records and that the program operates in accordance with the Federal and State requirements pertaining to the Summer Food Service Program Regulations.
• Supervises and participates in food preparation and service in order to maintain high standards of food flavor and appearance.
• Orders food and supplies in accordance with menu and volume requirements.
• Verifies deliveries and safeguards storage of food and supplies.
• Ensures the health and safety of students and personnel by instructions in adherence to The Massachusetts Sanitary Code.
• Accounts for meals served, leftovers and adjusts quantities accordingly to minimize waste
• Completes daily and weekly paperwork accurately
